Carmen is a multigenre writer and reader, educator and editor, and lifelong learner. She begged her mom to teach her to read at age 4 and hasn’t stopped devouring books since.

She is currently revising her first novel, a Gothic horror that explores identity, belonging, and mental illness, influenced by real US history. She is also an Editorial Arts Academy-trained developmental editor of fiction, a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, and brings years of experience as an educator to her editorial and coaching services.

Carmen has lived in 17 places in 34 years and is now based in Colorado with her husband and son. She holds graduate degrees in history and in education, and she loves hiking, photography, and discovering new coffee shops.
